Kotoratei (experience of being taken a photo in Samurai Armour)

Let me inform you of the opening of "Kotoratei".
Customers can be taken a picture in a Japanese samurai armour or throw shuriken (ninja's tiny blades).
There is no entrance fee but it costs \5,000 for the experience of being taken a picture in a Japanese samurai armour and \500 for throwing shuriken (8 times). Customers can use those services without reservation.

Customers also can write air mail as a memory of visiting Japan. They can freely decorate the air mail by using Japanese pattern seals. They do not have to look for postbox outside. All what they should do is only posting their air mail to the post set inside in the shop. This service requires postage. It costs \450.

FIGURE SPIRIT KUJI (ichiban kuji) - Sheryl Nome / Macross Frontier

”FIGURE SPIRITS KUJI” so-called “ichiban kuji” is a brand-new lottery produced by BANDAI SPIRITS. Though it is a lottery, it has no blank and a customer can get a high-quality realistic figurines.

Now they’re providing three types of figurines of “Sheryl Nome” from “Macross Frontier”.

It seems especially to be difficult to get Type A（see the picture above）.

I found one in TOKYO ATOM in Akihabara on November 27th.

As for the product

Megumi Kato, "Saenai Kanojo-no-sodatekata♭"

This is a figure of "Megumi Kato" from "Saenai Kanojo-no-sodatekata♭".
It is on display at Aniplex＋ in Akihabara Radio Kaikan.
Visitors must be impressed with its sophistication.

"Yawaraka Shirokoppe" A new bakery has just been opened

"Yawaraka Shrokoppe", a bakery specializing in a roll called "koppepan" managed by KOMEDA Holdings Co., Ltd. was opened on October 19th this year.

"Yawaraka" means soft. As shown in the shop name, a roll they use is very soft and moist.

Customers can be choose their favorite ingredients from various kinds shown in the following link. Please check what kinds of ingredients can be chosen.

A brand-new pet shop & animal cafe, Coo&RIKU

The first pet shop "Coo&RIKU" has just been opened in Akihabara!
Many pretty dogs and cats are waiting for you in the shop.
On the second floor of the building, there is a cafe where you can touch rabbits and hedgehogs.
There are some more animal cafes respectively specialized in cats, rabbits, hedgehogs, or owls but Coo&RIKU is an only cafe where visitors can meet both rabbits and hedgehogs in the same room.
Moreover, they manages a cat cafe on the third floor!

Coo&RIKU provides the service at the most reasonable price in Akihabara.

Mandarake

Mandarake is a hobby shop where secondhand goods are mainly sold.

There are so many foreign tourists who look for related goods of Japanese anime like Naruto, Dragon Ball and Slum Dunk.

Unfortunately, they cannot often find the goods because such goods are not produced any more once broadcast of TV programs are over.

It is Mandarake they should go, if ever there is a possibility, to find the goods.

Radio Center

Radio Center is one of my recommended place.

In 1945, many wireless telecommunication engineers came back from the front and/or the colony to Akihabara after the defeat of the Pacific War. Though they were the first-class engineers, they were unfortunately forced to make pans and caldrons against their will due to the shortage of materials.

Even under the difficult conditions, they gathered under the elevated track of Akihabara with the slogan of "Begin reconstruction of Japan from electronics" and started selling radio parts.

This is the beginning of Radio Center.
People craved for amusement and information at that time.
Therefore, it was bliss for them to listen to the radio.
As they became richer, they want to have audio devices, home electric appliances, and personal computers and so on.

Low ceiling, narrow alleys, colorful lights, and electric parts displayed closely …
Radio Center still remains the traces of the time.

Akihabara Radio Kaikan

"Akihabara radio kaikan" is one of the sightseeing spots I recommend in Akihabara.

This is a photo taken in front of radio kaikan.
Here is a famous place to take photos which provide you with Akihabara-like atmosphere.

Following are the shops in the building. Radio kaikan is an integration of Akihabara.
There are so many small similar shops in this town.
You can find shops like the following here and there in Akihabara.
Unless you visit Akihabara with a certain purpose like looking for anime figures or electronic parts to assemble your own computer, you'll be at a loss at what to do in this town.
If you're not specially interested in animation and electronic appliances and do not have enough time to stroll around the town, looking around the shops in the radio kaikan makes you satisfied to know what Akihabara is.

Akiba maids gather and sprinkle at Kanda Shrine

”Uchimizukko Daishugo" will be held at Kanda Shrine at 10:30 on August 11 (Sat.).

This is an event where many maids working in maid cafes in Akihabara gather and sprinkle water on the precinct of the shrine.

Summer Night Festival at Kanda Shrine (Japanese traditional bon dance)

Summer Night Festival will be held at precinct of Kanda Shrine for three days from 10th to 12th in August.
Foods and games can be enjoyed at fair.
In the night, Japanese traditional dance so-called bon dance will be done. Bon dance is very simple. A series of moves is repeated many times until the end of tunes. Dancers dance in a circle around a scaffold so-called Yagura.
Therefore, everyone can dance even for the first time by watching and copying other dancers. Let's dance all together!

Attractive Anime posters

These are the posters advertising the festivals held at Kanda Myojin Shrine which located between Akihabara and Ochanomizu.

The upper two posters are already expired but still are displayed on the wall of Akiba Info.

Because they are rare and many people come to see or to take photos of these posters.

The lower poster has just been displayed to inform the coming Summer Night Festival held at Kanda Myojin Shrine for three days from 10th to 12th in August.

The state of developing color image of this poster is so beautiful and worth looking.

Weekly Shonen Jump's Exhibition

"Where can I get Naruto goods?"
"Where can I get One Piece goods?"

Those are the questions we are often asked at Akihabara information center.

We truly feel sorry for saying that it is difficult to find what they want in Akihabara.
We advise them to go to
